The next drawing will now take place Friday at 11 p.m. ET, with the jackpot cash value estimated at $516.1 million.

"We know many people are likely getting tickets for Friday's drawing as a holiday gift, and what a great gift that will be if you get a ticket with a $1.15 billion jackpot," Joshua Johnston, lead director for the Mega Millions Consortium, said in a statement Wednesday.

The numbers drawn on Christmas Eve were 11, 14, 38, 45, 46 and the gold Mega Ball was 3.

The estimated jackpot would make it the seventh-largest in the game's history and the seventh billion-dollar prize.

If all six numbers drawn on a ticket match, it would be the largest amount ever won in December.

The last jackpot was $810 million in Texas on Sept. 10. No one has won the same prize in the past 29 drawings, as the jackpot amount has only grown.

According to Mega Millions, the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350.

Mega Millions is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets for one play cost $2.
