Kadarius Toney, a former NFL wide receiver and two-time Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs, was arrested on February 6, 2025, in Douglasville, Georgia.
The 26-year-old faces charges of aggravated assault and obstructing an emergency call following an alleged domestic incident.
According to court documents, the incident occurred on January 14, 2025, at Toney's residence. He is accused of placing his hand around a woman's throat with sufficient force to impede her breathing, leaving visible red marks and causing petechial hemorrhaging in her eyes. Additionally, Toney allegedly seized the woman's phone to prevent her from contacting emergency services during the altercation.
Following the incident, arrest warrants were issued on January 15. Toney was subsequently taken into custody on February 6, with bond set at $25,000 for each charge. He was released the same day after posting bail.
Toney's professional football career has been marked by both notable achievements and challenges. Selected 20th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, he was later traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022. During Super Bowl LVII, Toney made a significant impact with a 65-yard punt return, the longest in Super Bowl history, contributing to the Chiefs' victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.
In 2024, Toney signed with the Cleveland Browns but was released in December after a series of on-field errors, including a taunting penalty and a muffed punt during a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
